In preparation for the ninth Royal Ulster Premier Beef & Lamb Championships in November 2026, the organising committee have made changes to the weight limits for the event’s popular calf classes and renowned Ulster Housewife’s Championship.

In the calf section, the weight limit for all calves has increased to 400kg and in the Ulster Housewife’s Championship, the maximum weight for eligible cattle has increased from 590kg to 600kg.

William McElroy, Chairman of the RUAS Beef & Lamb Committee, said “I’m delighted that this year’s schedule will feature revised weight limits and adjustments to several classes, creating a more balanced and inclusive programme that caters to livestock of all ages.

“These changes will further strengthen the competition while enhancing the overall experience for exhibitors, buyers, sponsors and visitors. We look forward to continuing to develop the event and ensuring it remains a key highlight of Northern Ireland’s agricultural calendar.

Entries for the 2026 Royal Ulster Premier Beef & Lamb Championships will open on Wednesday 14th October with the event kicking off on Tuesday 24th November 2026.
